Wild Kingdom, Britty

Ok now, who could possibly walk away from the Humane Society and leave this little lover there? Well not me, of course! He's a wonderful little furbaby born in '97 and continues to be mamma's baby even though she's gotten other critters and a hubby since.

In this picture I still hadn't discovered that my pretty little girl was a BOY! (note the pink collar!) I just figured the people at the Humane Society would know, as would the vet, who missed it too! Must be all that hair I guess...

A few months after I got Britty, hubby walked out on me for another woman. (the cad!) Britty and I moved to an apartment for a few months and Britty was a lifesaver. Mom and Dad were often out of town. The kids were usually busy. The lawyer charged me by the minute. But Britty always listened and always cared.

Our apartment complex had weight limits for dogs, even though I know some folks had Great Danes. The landlady got a little nervous because she thought he was too big.

Then I took him to be groomed and she wondered what I did with the rest of him!

One fellow I dated loved to take Britty out for walks because he's a babe-magnet. Well, he is a looker with lots of personality, and as you may have guessed, I got rid of the guy and kept the dog! ;oD

As I mentioned earlier, I've since added several other critters to our family. Britty has taken most of it in stride, but the cats did take some getting used to! He's not hostile toward them at all, he'd just rather do his own thing. He does enjoy the company of the white fuzzy cat, Sleepless. I think it's all the fur myself!

Lately I've had to do the grooming/shaving myself, and folks are laughing at the poor fellow, even the vet! Mom's a lousy hairstylist but ya do what ya gotta do. He messed up his knee last winter and it cost $500 to fix it, so mom will be doing the shaving for a couple months yet. Sorry, no pics of that! The thing is, he doesn't realize that he looks bad- poor thing! He still thinks he's "hot stuff" after a groom, and I don't let him think any different!
